Sentry Firewall CD-ROM
The Sentry Firewall CD is a Linux-based bootable CD-ROM, suitable for use as an inexpensive and easy to maintain firewall, router, server, or IDS (Intrusion Detection System) node. The system is designed to be immediately configurable for a variety of different operating environments via a configuration file located on a floppy disk or on a remote server.

Changes: The Linux kernel has been updated to 2.4.28-ow1. The IMQ and MPPE/MPPC kernel patches have been added. Pptpd, dnsmasq, iproute2, and pppd have also been updated.

Changes: A number of bugs have been fixed in the configuration scripts, and a lot of code cleanups have been made. "path[#]" directives and a "mkdir" command were added to sentry.conf. Several packages have also been updated including snort, squid, and dnsmasq.

Changes: The Linux kernel was updated to version 2.4.26-ow1. The vsftp and SUSE Proxy-Suite (ftp-proxy) packages were added, and Snort was updated to version 2.1.2. There were also several changes to the rc.inet2 init script, and rc.inet2.conf was added.

Changes: The root filesystem has been changed to a tmpfs(shm fs)-based filesystem. The "root_size" and "add_swap" configuration directives have been added to the sentry.conf file to facilitate adding swap space and resizing root at boot time. The MySQL, dnsmasq, glibc, Snort, and Shorewall packages have been updated. The mppe-mppc patch has been added to the kernel and pppd to support PPTP clients using MPPE+MS-CHAP. There have also been multiple updates and bugfixes to rc.inet1.conf (the interface configuration init file), mkconfig (the sentry.conf configuration manager), and the documentation.

Changes: There are two important updates in this release. The Linux kernel has been upgraded to version 2.4.25-ow1, and the bridge+netfilter patch has also been updated to brnf-5. Those folks using -rc9 or below should upgrade.
