SMARTReporter

SMARTReporter warns of ATA hard drive failures before they happen by periodically polling the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drives. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a technology built into most modern hard drives that acts as an "early warning system" for pending drive problems. SMARTReporter can notify you of impending drive failures by sending email messages, displaying a warning dialog, or executing an application. The current status of your drives is always displayed through the customizable menu item.

Changes: Users of Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 have to update manually to this release, since the update check has been disabled on these platforms already. This release fixes a problem where disks attached to Sonnettech ATA-cards would not be recognized with the Sonnettech driver 2.1.4+. It fixes a problem where SMARTReporter would lose its preferences and add itself to the login items multiple times. It fixes the "Start on login" feature on Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" through a new Leopard-specific implementation (again). The Japanese localization has been updated.
