SMM++ Mud Client is a mud client with extended and unique features. Aside from all standard mud client functionality like ANSI color support, aliases, action triggers, and tab-completion, SMM++ features a highly-customizable user interface (labels, buttons, and menus) and unique and powerful mapping capabilities, and SMM++ is the only mapping crossplatform (Tcl/Tk based) mud client available.

Recent releases

Changes: Map cut/copy/pasted/fill functions have been debugged/implemented. There are click&drag rooms, support for muds without a telnet port number, new colored background images, new colored images, new commands to interact with maps, enhanced logging, scroll lock, the ability to get a selection, and new script files. The map manager code has been cleaned up: lots of historic stuff was removed, and TMapManager has been divided into child classes to have better code organisation. Many non-serious bugs have been removed. Map loading has been speed up by 25%. Colors for windows have been adjusted. The ticker has been overhauled.

Changes: This version features the MCCP V1 protocol, splitted smm and smmdoc, an extended GUI, a new mud and session manager, a name creator for player names, a session counter, and new colored backgrounds. The manual is now distributed separately, and a foreground bug has been removed.

Changes: A fix for an unpleasant bug that prevent configuration of exits.

Changes: A colormager and bugfixes.

Changes: Lots of major improvements; the most important ones are: speedwalk (click on the map and move automatically to a destination), automap commands, import/export maps, and low resolution display support.

The trick with itkwish is that newer versions include the functionality of itkwish in the wish binary. If you install tcl and itk you just have to link wish as itwish such as "ln -s wish itkwish". The wish binary will handle the itkwish functionality perfectly fine. As for other packages to install, this is detailed in the INSTALL file located in the install directory. What flavour of unix are you using?

Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!
This has _got_ to be one of the most trying
source builds I've run across. No fault of the
package, but this itkwish thingy and TCL
definations not getting found.
This is now my third day trying to get all the
packages together and get it building...
