SOFIA

SOFIA is a model-view controller framework that brings web application development functionality similar to ASP Dot Net Web Forms to the Java developer. Whereas most Java Web frameworks focus on only one or two aspects of the MCV design pattern and provide little or no development tool support, SOFIA focuses on making Web developers immediately more productive and so provides a complete end-to-end solution right out of the box.

Changes: A browser-based "rich client" UI can now be built without applets or complex javascript by using SOFIA's new DHTML components for things such as: drop down calendars, calculators and search boxes, scrolling data grids, nested reports with row folding, nav bars, trees, tables, and calendars. SOFIA's GUI components can now be used to build a front end for a Hibernate domain model. SOFIA's built-in search and data entry components allow Hibernate developers to build search, list, and detail pages with little or no code.
