Songwrite
Songwrite is a tablature editor. It supports many string instruments in addition to traditional staff notation. You can edit tablature (guitar, bass, banjo, etc.) and staff notation, add lyrics, create your own songbook, play your partitions, print your partitions and your songs, automatically convert staff notation to tablature and vice-versa, export songs to many formats (PDF, MIDI, ASCII tablature, GNU Lilypond, LaTeX, PostScript, etc.), and import Guitar Pro 3/4 files (experimental).

Changes: Songwrite 2 is a complete rewrite, with a new interface based on GTK 2 and Cairo (with anti-aliasing), a new staff rendering engine that handles tonality and alteration correctly, a new plugin system, new documentation, and updated printing support for Lilypond 2.11.20 and above.

Changes: This release supports Lilypond 2.3.12; older versions may no longer be supported. It has much better error handling when exporting / printing, and a new "print tab + staff" option for tablature. To avoid a license problem in Debian, the documentation is now under the GPL (it was previously under the GFDL). Drums partitions of some MIDI files were badly imported. There is a better lyrics layout when printing.. A dialog box bug when displaying a yes-no dialog after a file dialog has been fixed.

Changes: This version includes lots of new features, such as a Guitar Pro importer, repeat support, etc.

Changes: A new XML file format is used. This release works with Lilypond 1.7+. Bugfixes were made.

Changes: A new lyrics system was added and staffs are now supported in addition to tablature. The documentation has been translated into French.
