[»] hm... TYPO3?
by Michael Shigorin - Aug 18th 2005 08:06:12

Usual question, how does it stack against TYPO3 or say Drupal?

I've been only glad ever since discovering the former, great product by decent people -- and nice community too.

hm...another usual question: how the supported cms with author's guaranty is compared favorably to open-source? The latter is free, but the first is reliable and doesn't bother you. if you don't value your time and efforts - try open-source. As for me I'm sick and tired of it.

Please remember that you (ab)use site about free software to advertise yourself before spreading FUD.

As for you not doing your homework, *go* to typo3.com and then *think* whether you can provide *that* level of support.

You are simply going to have enough badmouthing all over Internet with "facts" like that...

Patrick, could you judge on this?

        1. If you are taking PERSONAL OPINION as the abuse - so what for you put the questions? 2. Don't mix me up in your marketing games! For this reason you can use add and so on.

          > questions?

No, I've taken advertising some (inferior as far as I can see) non-free product here as abuse. Thanks Daniel Pearson who's kindly pointed out that it's compliant with intended use of freshmeat.

As FM staff is more in position to judge what's appropriate and what's not, I'm only adding this link to Tom Lord's message for those slightly surprised about the rise of proprietary waste here last years as a possible explanation.

Re "personal opinion", hope those looking at this FM record will judge on their own /which/ kind of abuse it is and whether they want to support such an author with anything.

Please don't take it really up to heart, it wasn't intended as personal offence -- at least sure not more than your reply to fairly innocent question (I've asked it before to different CMS authors and got the correct technical answers and not whining about something completely abstract).

I'm writing (and reading) both free and proprietary software; so far the latter tends to suck more bitterly than the former, JFYI.

          > 2. Don't mix me up in your marketing

          > games!

I don't have any marketing games [here], it's you who tries to have.

So: I've just asked the simple usual technical question, you can check my comment history -- maybe there are previous like that still recorded (the history has limited length).

I'm not affiliated with them but being interested in CMS area as a user/developer, getting correct answers is needed to start looking at something better than the last iteration's findings.

Last time I've changed major CMS was exactly due to research like this; folks over here have liked it very much ever since, but there's no such thing as perfect software so I occasionally re-check things just in case (e.g. runner-up could have been developed better, you know).

Still I've got _two_ answers this time (yours and FM's) which is quite generous for a single question.

          > For this reason you can use add and so on.

Thanks, I've learned how to use "add" link a bit earlier than you appeared here altogether; and good luck, maybe you learn something too.
