Changes: New features include a configuration file for stored settings, running the Windows GUI application without running Winamp, and a new silence detection method. Internal changes include a transition from wide characters to UTF-8 and a new dependency on glib. Many bugs have been fixed, including crashes when reconnecting, checks for full disk conditions, percent-escaping of user names, parsing year and track from metadata, relative paths in cue files, race conditions in the relay server, an ID3 bug on 64-bit systems, and problems connecting to certain servers.

Changes: This is a major release designed for Unicode. Song metadata can be transcoded from arbitrary character encodings. Outputs to ID3, relay streams, and file system can be independently selected to use different encodings.

Changes: This version includes a new feature: the ability to read external metadata. Using external metadata enables song splitting and file naming for streams that send artist or title information using methods such as XML, HTML, or UDP.

Changes: Metadata restriction rules are now implemented, which allow a user to specify which files to save and which to discard using regular expressions. The user can now assert greater control over the output filenames by using a pattern substitution string. Automatic sequence numbering of output files was improved to restart from the highest number in the output directory by default. Finally, a new option for overwriting existing files only when the new file is larger was added.
