stresslinux is a minimal Linux distribution that runs from a bootable CDROM or via PXE. It makes use of some utitlities such as stress, cpuburn, hddtemp, lm_sensors, etc. It is dedicated to users who want to test their system(s) entirely on high load and monitor the health of these systems.

Recent releases


Changes: This release updates the kernel to 2.6.16.18 and busybox to 1.1.3, adds the network test tools netperf, iperf, and nepim, and adds an extra option to boot without loading extra drivers from initrd.


Changes: Besides kernel 2.6.16.16, there are updates for busybox, lshw, hddtemp, lm_sensors, and stress. Some new Tyan motherboards are included in sl-wizard. This is the last release candidate before the final release.


Changes: The stresslinux kernel was updated to version 2.6.14.2. New versions of stress, lshw, busybox, x86info, memtest, and syslinux are now included. The database for hddtemp was also updated to a current version.


Changes: This release uses Debian Sarge as the distribution base. All packages were updated to current versions. The memtester package was added. The 2.4 kernels were removed and completly replaced by one 2.6 kernel.


Changes: The distribution base was changed from SuSE 7.3 to 9.0. Kernels are now running in recent versions (2.4.27 and 2.6.8.1), and now support Cyrix, K6, and Via CPUs. All included software is now up2date. sl-wizard was extended with many new mainboard configurations.
