This release adds sections about Keep-Alive, Cookies, the
POST-request, and details on IRC and POP3/IMAP4.


Changes: This release adds a small Web site and places a link pointing to the new Web site in the book.


Changes: Updates were made the chapters about IP, UDP, TCP, ICMP, email, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, NNTP, FTP, gopher, DICT, daytime, finger, DNS, and whois. New IP topics include TTL, traceroute, fingerprinting, and portscanning. New TCP topics are telnet and netcat. The new ICMP topic is blocking of pings. Discussion of problems with firewalls was added to the FTP chapter. Recursive finger-looksups were added to the finger chapter. Sections about some subprotocols of IRC were added, namely CTCP, DCC, and XDCC. A section about the automation of DICT was added, and the section about HTTP-scripts was updated. A new text processing system is now used.


Changes: Sections about the TRACE-request, chunked-encoding, and partial content were added to the HTTP chapter. The IHAVE-command and special headers (Followup-To, Control) are now explained in the NNTP chapter.


Changes: Sections about TTL, Traceroute, and HTTP-at-a-Glance were added. Some more comments about Cookies were added.
