TkKasse

TkKasse is a cash desk (POS) software designed especially for use in restaurants. It runs on ordinary PCs that use cheap standard components, aside from a POS printer. It supports multiple simultaneous waiters, bills, and screens. This software has been tested and optimized on real waiters at a restaurant in Harz Mountains, Germany.

Changes: Starting with this version, the cash register data is stored in a sqlite3 database, too. A report tool has been added to the browser interface, developing the configuration tool into a back office solution. The reports can be printed to PDF files with the help of pdflatex. There is now support for up to 10 POS keyboards in the article configuration. The iButton waiter key handling in the client has been improved.

Changes: Configuration is now mostly performed by a Web-based tool rather than through files. This was done to suit the needs of the average restaurant boss. The POS printer drivers now allow printing of normal and double width/height and emphasized/colored characters in one receipt. This is already used by the built-in receipt templates. Support for cash drawers connected to a POS printer was added, and this is activated on bill closing.

Changes: This release supports splitting of bill items and joining/defragmentation of all bill items and moving articles to other bills. Pulling bills from another waiter is possible. For cancelling of bill items, special rights are necessary. A head waiter may now see and edit all bills. Any waiter can see/edit a trainee waiter's bills. This release supports automatic saving of the cash register contents every couple of minutes, and Maxim/Dallas iButton keys as a login credential. The latter requires owfs/owtcl and special (but cheap) hardware.
