VectorLinux is a fast, bloat-free, Slackware-based Linux distribution. It includes an Xorg based GUI desktop, a full development environment, networking utilities, laptop support, and a full range of desktop and console applications. Although intended as a desktop system, it can be configured for console use. "Light" is suitable for Pentium-3 class computers. "Standard" remains fast while providing the full XFCE desktop environment. Also available is a LiveCD preview of the premium SOHO Edition.

Changes: The software selection has been frozen. JWM is the default window manager. Fluxbox is provided as an alternative, and LXDE provides an option for a full desktop environment.


Changes: This release includes KDE 3.5.6, kernel 2.6.20.3, new artwork, and bootsplash. Updates were made to all software packages. There were also custom menu revisions and performance tweaks.


Changes: This version is now based on Slackware 11.0. The default GUI desktop was added, featuring Xfce 4.3.99.2 with highly customized graphics. The Linux kernel was updated to 2.6.18.5 with patches for fuse, bootsplash, and squashfs. SeaMonkey suite 1.06 is now the default Web browser, with Firefox 2.0 and Opera 9.10 as options. All base programs were updated to their latest versions at the time of release. The installer was improved so that unformatted hard drives may be used during installation. New additions to the administrative menu and bugfixes were made throughout the system.


Changes: The kernel was updated to 2.6.13. A new bootsplash and KDE 3.4.2 were included.
