Linux on the Linksys wrt54g
wrt54g-linux is a mini-distribution for the Linksys wrt54g 802.11b/g access point and router. It includes basic tools such as sh, syslog, telnetd, httpd (with cgi-bin support), vi, snort, mount, insmod, rmmod, top, grep, find, nfs modules, etc. The installation script runs in about 20 seconds and installs strictly to the RAM disk. If you mess anything up, simply reset the box. After installing the distribution you'll be able to telnet in, add Web pages, change iptable rules, change routing, configure snort, etc.

Changes: This release changes the install directory used when loading executables on the box. This change should make the distribution work on boxes where "/var" is read-only. The release works on a version 1 WRT54G box running firmware version 4.00.7. It has also been reported to work on other WRT54G variations, such the GS version of the box. It does not work with WRT54G firmware 4.30.5, nor will it work with version 5 WRT54G boxes.

Changes: This version has been verified to install on the currently latest Linksys firmware, 4.00.7. Several cleanups have been made in scripts, wrt54g.sh, wrt54g_put.sh, and remote.sh. Some additional logic has been added for installing under Cygwin.

Changes: This release adds two user-contributed pcakages: dropbear, a small SSH daemon, and iptraf, an IP traffic monitoring utility. Neither package is installed by default. To install either, add their files to the "distro.tar" file and modify the wrt54g.sh script to set them up on each install. Additional iptables commands have been added to the startup script to account for PPPOE. There are small cleanups.
