xiron

xiron is a rapid development framework to build multimedia frontends for the XINE media playing library. A xiron-based frontend is entirely defined by XML and Javascript files, and therefore only basic programming skills are needed to build your own frontend. The frontend development is comparable with creating skins for other media players, but in addtion to the appearance being configurable, so is the entire functionality of the application.

Changes: Most notably, the added support for skinned windows, buttons and labels finally made the first GTK-2 based gui possible, so the xiron framework now comes with a somewhat usable default skin. Many things been improved behind the scenes: the interface to the scripting engine has been rewritten, modules can now initialize its subsequent libraries threadsave through special startup callbacks, and the playlist is now handled more flexibly.
