Funny, a difference between the Gtk+-1 an Gtk+-2 versions
by filippo rusconi - Aug 1st 2003 14:59:49
Hello, I noticed that while the Gtk+-1 theme handled the frames correctly,
the Gtk+-2 theme did not.
The frame widget gets drawn correctly on its upper part, but the vertical
left/right lines are chewn away and do not appear drawn, which makes the
GtkFrame look odd.
This is the only thing I would like to see improved as of now, so that
this is by far the best theme I encountered!
Excellent work, indeed of course,
Congrats,
Filippo

Wow, this is one of the best GTK 1.x themes I've seen. Great job!

use some neat themes.

This is how I usually do it:
Create a directory called .gtk_themes in your home directory.
Then:
cd ~/.gtk_themes && tar -zxvf XLiquid_GTK-1.0.1.tar.gz
(I think that's the right filename).
Then edit .gtkrc in you home directory and add the following line (all on
one line):
include "/home/[you]/.gtk_themes/XLiquid_GTK-1.0.1/gtk/gtkrc"
You can comment out or remove the default include lines in .gtkrc. Oh and
replace [you] with your home directory name.
Then edit /home/[you]/.gtk_themes/XLiquid_GTK-1.0.1/gtk/gtkrc and
uncomment the pixmap_path line and correct the path info.
You should be set.

i did exactly what you said and i can't get it done ( mandrake9 KDE 3 ) i
have a file called .gtkrc-kde and when i add the include line it just gets
whiped out of the file and i see no liquid theme , too bad cuz i think it

Your theme definitly rocks (screenshot), but got
the same problem as mandraker. I'm using
Debian/KDE3.1.
Everytime I change the .gtkrc-kde file pasting the
line you suggested ( include.... ), it's going to be wiped
out and set to default. Following the suggestions as
described in the comments of this file
# If you do not want KDE to override your GTK
settings, select
# Appearance & Themes -> Colors in the Control
Center and disable the checkbox
# "Apply colors to non-KDE applications"
don't work either. The file is still wiped out.
As far as I can tell the system fails to include the
file, cause it overwrites is before even including it.

about KDE2.x ( including 3.x ) : You better read
this.
link
to article KDE 2.x needs a theme or themerc
file as it seems. I guess it might work without it, but it
would be much easier if you include the
theme-file. thx

I've also this file, but you should create a file called ".gtkrc". And it
worked for me (at least for Gtk 1.2, I don't know for Gtk 2.x)

Hello, this may sound like a stupid question but
what is the default line. I have gotten to the
point of commenting out the default line in the
gtkrc file but can't find it. Also does it
matter where you add the syntax?
