X Python Newsreader (XPN) is a multi-platform newsreader with Unicode support. It has features like scoring/actions, X-Face and Face decoding, muting of quoted text, newsrc import/export, find article and search in the body, spoiler char/rot13, random taglines, and configurable attribution lines.

Changes: Threads with unread watched articles are now underlined. A visualization option that lets you hide threads without watched articles was added. A bug that caused XPN not to kill old articles reapplying rules was fixed. A bug that caused crashes when using ID with extended chars was fixed.


Changes: The article management was rewritten, so now the articles are stored in an SQLite database. Article management now is faster and easier. Your xpn-1.0.0 groups and articles will be automatically imported and converted to the new format. A filter toolbar was added that lets you filter the articles by Subject, From, and Body content. The algorithm used to build the discussion threads was improved. The menus and some windows were revisited. Automatic download of headers periodically was added. Some minor fixes and refinements were made.


Changes: Multi-identity support was added. Nineteen new layouts were added. Several bugs were fixed. XPN was translated to Italian, French, and German.


Changes: This release adds basic mult-iserver support. This change has required some modifications to the groups db format; in order to keep your subscriptions, you need to export to a newsrc file from XPN-0.6.5 and reimport it in XPN-0.7.0. It is possible to use Function keys for customized key bindings. The command used to test the connection in has been modified order to prevent hamster hang-ups. A bug that caused XPN to crash trying to export newsrc file with empty groups subscribed has been fixed. A bug in the "Apply Scoring and Actions Rules" feature that caused XPN crashes trying to apply the !kill rule has been fixed.


Changes: It is now possible to customize keyboard shortcuts, choose the headers to show in the article pane, and reapply scoring/action rules. Two new layouts have been added. Several bugs have been fixed.
