trouble with overlapping frames

I really like both axxrom and 708090, but I have a problem with overlapping
frames: as soon as frames overlap and I move them around, strange stuff
appears around the edges. Should I change my icewm configuration (I have
1.2.0)?

I have no idea about that. I had never problems.

Okay. Thanks anyway. It probably has to do with the fact that i get a lot
of error messages, 'XpmOpenFailed', and some of the parts of the frame are
missing. But why that is, I have no idea.

i think you need to recompile it --with-imlib to get IceWM with support
other types of images than Xpm
e.g. my./ configure was:
./configure --enable-shaped-decorations --enable-antialiasing
--enable-i18n --with-icesound --with-imlib --prefix=/usr
btw: anybody knows how to get the icesound to work?

Mustn't it be? (just compiled it with this switch, haven't configured the
sound yet - so it might not work)

of the transparency i can see just black background where it shouldn't be

Which version of icewm are you using? You need
icewm 1.0.9 or 1.2, compiled with the shape
extension.

i'm using 1.2 from rpm of mandrake cooker so i can't tell you if it was
compiled with shape extension or not... probably not because the upgrade
didn't helped. :(
can you tell me how to compile it (or enable it) with the shape extension,
please?

i get an error about X not being there even though:
"which X" returns /usr/bin/X11/X
How do I install the X Shape Extension also?
I'm using debian 3.0.

it's the right solution! i've compiled it with i18n antialiased fonts too
and it runs great!
i've made mandrake rpm (with checkinstall) for myself too, so if anyone is
interested...

Thanx Roland, it works great for me (I had some trouble trying to get the
transparency to work (i.e. didn't know how to actiave/enable it) before I
read your "howto").
btw, I'm using version 1.2.13 on RedHat 8 (2.4.22 kernel) - no problems
during compilation and installation.
kelesh, try using the switch --with-x, (see ./configure --help for
more options, there are some switches for X includes/libs).
