About:
LAM/MPI is an implementation of the Message Passing Interface (MPI) parallel standard that is especially friendly to clusters. It includes a persistent runtime environment for parallel programs, support for all of MPI-1, and a good chunk of MPI-2, such as all of the dynamic functions, one-way communication, C++ bindings, and MPI-IO.
Release focus: Major feature enhancements
Changes:
Introduction of the System Services Interface (SSI) extensible component architecture, allowing run-time selection of the underlying network transport layer, setting of many run-time tunable parameters, and 3rd party plugins to the LAM and MPI run-time environments. Native support for Myrinet networks. Native support for RSH/SSH, PBS, BProc, and Globus run-time environments. New SMP-optimized collective algorithms. New support for checkpoint/restart of parallel MPI jobs (when used with the Berkeley Labs Checkpoint/Restart package). New support for the Etnus TotalView parallel debugger.
