[»] Cd begins to boot but I get a repeating error
by leeburstroghm - May 31st 2005 10:23:57

No video modes available for your current configuration

I recieved the same error on advanceMAMEcd 2.5.0 Im now using advanceMAMECD 2.6.1

I do not understand. I copied my roms the the rom directory and the snapshots to the snap. I run makecd and It does not get to the menu. Help PLEASE... Am I missing a step? How does it work for everyone else? Is it a setting in my bios or my graphics card? It comes up to the advanceMAME loading... Splash screen..

Thanx for your help

This is an easyone. Your monitor is either a LCD type or a non-multisync monitor. The sgalibs need a monitor's vertical sync range to be in a specific range... i think it was (60Hz - 85Hz). Eitherway, try changing your monitor.

[»] Display problems
by liamgilmartin - Nov 18th 2003 17:49:00

Hello,

First, I'd like to say that this is really nice work and what follows is not a criticism, simply a request.

My monitor is a TFT running on a Gateway laptop using an ATI built in card of some sort. The emulator runs, and I have sound, but the image is quite mixed up. However its good enough for me to get a glimpse of what I am missing. I can just about read the menus for instance.

I realise that this is written for MultiSynch monitors. Is there any way I can get it running properly on my system.

Thanks,

Regards

Liam Gilmartin

    [»] Boot Up Woes
    by unclechicken - Jun 5th 2004 22:11:49

I can get this running from a CD/DVD drive, but i am wondering is it hard to get it booting from a Hard Drive as it is?? Ive tried but cant (but my tech know how is somewhat like that of a lettuce!) Is there anything out there that can get the CD/DVD booting from a HD instead of the CD drive? This would solve a lot of probs with me making a mame cab!!! Thanks a lot and i am awaiting a reply with baited breath unclechicken@gamebox.net

At present it is not possible to boot from an HD. The next version will boot from all the USB devices, and also USB HDs.

The new version does boot from normal HD's too using the Makeboot.bat \\.\D: options, where D is the HD you want to install AdvanceCD.

        Works great, thanks!!

I'm haveing problems and hoping someone can help.
I've setup a HD using the Makeboot.bat option.
the drive boots and shows the White boot screen
with the blue Advance mame letters..
but then I get an error.
          CP: Read Error: Input/Output error

When I make an bootable CD using the makecd option everything boots and runs great..
but I'd like to run it via a Hard drive instead.
          any help?
          it's a Maxtor 13gig drive, formatted with FAT32,
the Machine currently has 96Meg of Ram.

          Thanks,
          Chris

As I have not got a reply since I asked this question more than a year ago, can I assume that TFT monitors are still not supported. I really would like to have a go at this and show it to my friends! thanks - Liam

Some are supported some not. It depends on the video board Linux driver. When I will switch to the new 2.6 Linux kernel the support will improve. But for now the 2.4 video support is still better tested.
