It's so nice to see this project going somewhere. At the start of the project several years ago there were so many people involved and excited about it. After some time, I lost touch with the project, but still wondered how things were going with it. Congrats on your progress thus far!

Maybe you should make this project record pointing on http://freevms.free.fr/indexGB.html instead of the french index. Most People dont understand french and are kind of shoked if they are lead to a non-english site..

regards,
Peter Petermann

    It has a clearly visible link to the English version of the page at the top.

    > Most People dont understand french

    Which "People" are those? People in general, or Americans?

        Yes, but it's a French project. I don't think you should make the French version of your homepage the default, either. :)

    Wouldn't it be better to use the language settings, a-la Multiview, to pick the language?

    Better still, update the Freshmeat record more often and release as frequently as possible?

[»] incomplete kernel distribution
by Jan van Mastbergen - Jan 2nd 2002 16:59:28

It seems that this and maybe other stuff in the following paths are missing:

#include"../../freevms/sys/src/system_data_cells.h"
#include"../../freevms/lib/src/dyndef.h"

The above is from a source file in freevms/kernel/...

    I have some trouble with the kernel distribution (makefiles...). So, the next release will be a patch against the 2.4.17 official linux kernel. I think that the new kernel will be released soon. Regards, JKB

[»] DCL "shell"
by David J. Dachtera - Oct 8th 2001 21:02:15

Remember to study up on DCL. It is much more than just a shell. It actually *IS* a command line interpreter, as such it parses the command line and makes qualifiers ("options") and their values available to the programs invoked by the command. It does *NOT* on the other hand "glob"; i.e., it does *NOT* expand wild-carded filespec.'s.

A wealth of information can be found via various links. Suggest you start with:

...and more.
