About:
MAD is a high-quality MPEG audio decoder capable of 24-bit output. All computations are performed with fixed-point integer arithmetic, making it ideal for systems without a floating-point unit. The implementation is entirely new, based on the ISO/IEC standards.
Release focus: Major feature enhancements
Changes:
Three new audio output modules in madplay (cdda, aiff, and esd), new --bit-depth (for selecting the output resolution) and --ignore-crc (for playing streams with bad CRCs) options, support in Win32 builds for keyboard controls, and removal of dependency on Cygwin DLLs.
