Section: Unix

Added: Thu, May 3rd 2001 10:45 UTC (7 years, 2 months ago) Updated: Sun, Apr 20th 2008 14:15 UTC (3 months, 8 days ago)

About:
LEAF (Linux Embedded Appliance Firewall) is an easy-to-use embedded Linux system that is meant for creating network appliances for use in small office, home office, and home automation environments. Although it can be used in other ways, it is primarily used as a gateway/router/firewall for Internet leaf sites.

Release focus: Major feature enhancements

Changes:
This is a completely renewed version in the "mountain namespace" based on a 2.2.19 kernel. This version includes IPsec and all the standard features in their latest versions. Lots of functions are integrated in busybox, and unnecessary items have been removed. The configuration scripts lrcfg.* are updated. The mail script has been fixed.

[»] LEAF
by guitarlynn - Feb 1st 2002 19:15:03

This project has some great base distributions/versions to create
embedded Linux routers, firewall, bridges, and servers from. I
have personally used LEAF for several years now and make 1U,
2U, half-, and full-slot rack mount appliances with them. There
are many other similar projects out there, but I have found LEAF
to be the most configurable and secure with a minimum of effort
to do exactly what I need. I look forward to using LEAF _much_
more in the fulure.

Thanks all!
