Dconf is a tool to collect a system's hardware and software configuration. It allows you to take your system configuration with you and compare systems (like nodes in a cluster) to troubleshoot hardware or software problems. It can also be configured to send out configuration changes at given intervals to a group of people, or store a new snapshot when system changes happen.
dstat is a versatile replacement for vmstat, iostat, netstat, nfsstat, and ifstat. It includes various counters (in separate plugins) and allows you to select and view all of your system resources instantly; you can, for example, compare disk usage in combination with interrupts from your IDE controller, or compare the network bandwidth numbers directly with the disk throughput (in the same interval).
Dwall is an all-purpose firewall tool to generate an iptables firewall out of a simple configuration. It contains about 80 predefined services and comes with a simple 3 zone firewall example. It is designed to be easy to configure and manage without being limited to a specific network setup. It can handle as many interfaces as desired and allows you to create firewall rules that are portable between several firewalls.
footprint is a tool that makes it easier to create and manage kickstart files. It allows you to define systems, create profiles for systems, and macros per distribution. It can create kickstart files on the fly, make custom initrd (ramdisks), create custom bootfloppies, and can manage your DHCP and PXE configuration.
mrepo (formerly known as Yam) builds a local APT/Yum RPM repository from local ISO files, downloaded updates, and extra packages from RHN (Red Hat Network) and 3rd party repositories. It takes care of setting up the ISO files, downloading the RPMs, configuring HTTP access, and providing PXE/TFTP resources for remote installations. It was primarily intended for doing remote network installations of various distributions from a laptop without the need for CD media or floppies, but is equally suitable for an organization's centralized update server.
